The Five Gifts of Christ(mas)

Today’s audio is special, beginning with Patricia DeLise Mead singing a up-tempo rendition of: “There’s Something Going On In Bethlehem”.

Today’s message speaks to the gifts we have in the one gift God gave us – Jesus – and how unpacking Him in our lives brings us so much more than what we could ever imagine. Receive Jesus and receive more than you expected. Saving grace is transforming grace.

Introduction: tribulations of Christmas gifts – Teddy Ruxpin

  1. Jesus – paying the price of our waywardness
    1. Isaiah 53:5-6 … But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
  2. Life – now and later – quality and quantity
    1. John 10:7-10 … Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They’ll come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

  1. Presence – Jesus Spirit – power to do what we can’t
    1. John 14:16 … I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby, He’s got your back), to be with you forever.
    2. Interview and testimony with Janie
  1. Clarity
    1. Colossians 1:9-10 … We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
  1. Unity
    1. Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Your spiritual Father – Heavenly Father wants us to have assurance, confidence, security, hope – we should want personal power that equips us to have Christ’s mind … the mind, character and content of a child who honors Father

A synergy gift – you do not eat the separate components of a cake – you mix them together – you do not play with the toy parts, it is like “nesting dolls” ….

  • The assurance of forgiven sin
  • The assurance of a changed life
  • The assurance of Christ in us
  • The assurance of the Word (alignment)
  • The assurance of unity
